The third and final film in the record-shattering comedy franchise, this has the entire topline cast returning, so expect another orgy of booze, fisticuffs, slapstick, celebrity cameos, mild sexism, run-ins with unexpected wild animals, plus a spot of hugging, learning and growing slapped on the end to make it seem slightly less degrading to humanity. Fast & Furious 6

Next Showing: 25th Jun 13 @ 19:30

Final Showing: 27th Jun 13 @ 19:30

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Following a screaming return to form with the best-in-the-series Fast Five, director Justin Lin and the cast return for this follow-up, picking up the story right after the events in the previous film. Agent Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) enlists the aid of Dom (Vin Diesel) and his team to help bring a rival gang to justice. Riffing on classic car & heist movies like The Italian Job, there’s a stylish old-school layer added to the familiar manic undercover cop vs. street-racing madmen action. But fear not, thrilling action and cool cars are still the central part of the story. read more

Summer in February

Next Showing: 05th Jul 13 @ 19:00

Final Showing: 11th Jul 13 @ 19:00

Naked models on the beach and wild parties at night scandalised the locals when the Newlyn School flourished in Cornwall just prior to the First World War. Aspiring artist Florence Carter-Wood is at the centre of a complex love triangle, torn between extrovert AJ Munnings, now regarded as one of Britain's most sought-after painters, and his best friend Gilbert Evans, the frightfully good chap who Daddy would approve of. Played out against the picturesque beauty of the Cornish coast, this intimate, enchanting, “true” story is a must-see for anyone who likes a beautiful, romantic, costume drama. read more

The Big Wedding

Next Showing: 05th Jul 13 @ 19:30

Final Showing: 09th Jul 13 @ 19:30

An amusing, slightly raunchy comedy that has a top cast ringing what drama they can out of its familiar dysfunctional-family-gathering scenario. Much to the amusement of their adult children and friends Robert de Niro and Diane Keaton play a long-divorced couple who pretend to be happily married for the wedding of their adopted son (Barnes) and his fiancée (Seyfried). A string of disasters inevitably follow. Zackham juggles the plot threads efficiently enough while maintaining a light farcical tone mixed with some broader sex comedy.

Come As You Are

Next Showing: 10th Jul 13 @ 19:30

Final Showing: 11th Jul 13 @ 19:30

This film is subtitled.

A charming, funny, feel good film that reminds us all that life must be lived to the full whatever your circumstances. Philip, Lars and Jozef are three guys in their twenties who are desperate to lose their virginity. So far, so predictable, but Jozef is blind, Lars is confined to a wheelchair and Philip is paralysed from the neck down. But they're not going to let anything stand in their way so they persuade their parents to let them go on holiday together. This has a lively script, droll sense of humour and fine performances, so if you enjoyed Untouchable you’ll certainly enjoy this too.

Byzantium

Next Showing: 12th Jul 13 @ 19:30

Final Showing: 16th Jul 13 @ 19:30

Casting off her sweet girl-next-door image Gemma Arterton has a ball vamping it up as the lap-dancer/whore/vampire Clara on the run from ‘The Brotherhood’ for 200 years. When she’s forced to flee to a faded English seaside town Clara persuades weak-willed Noel to let her run a brothel from his failing hotel, Byzantium. Flitting back and forth through the centuries this smart tale of the undead is a mixture of tough and wistful, reflective and brutal. With its striking visuals and exceptional performances, this depicts the modern vampire's lot, shifting effortlessly between the gritty reality of life on the margins and a nocturnal world of dark, bloodthirsty desires. read more

The Eye of the Storm

Next Showing: 17th Jul 13 @ 19:30

Final Showing: 18th Jul 13 @ 19:30

Top-notch performances from the stellar cast nail the acid tone of Nobel prize-winner Patrick White's novel. In dying, as in living, the still formidable, Sydney matriarch Mrs Hunter (Rampling) remains a powerful force on those who surround her. So her spoiled, penniless children (Rush, Davis) get a mixed reception on their overdue return home. This is a savage exploration of family relationships - and the sharp undercurrents of love and hate, comedy and tragedy, which define them. Like a Merchant-Ivory Down Under Schepisi orchestrates the vitriolic cat-and-mouse games with great subtlety and skill, so allowing these great actors to do what they do best.
