Wyeside honoured by grant from Theatres Trust for riverside repairs
Wyeside Arts centre is one of only six theatres who have been awarded funds in the second round of grants from The Theatres Trust’s Theatres Protection Fund Small Grants Scheme. Wyeside receives £5,000 for urgent repairs to the north elevation beside the River Wye. This is the trust's first grant to a theatre in Wales.
The Small Grants Scheme helps theatres in need and at risk to address urgent building repairs, improve their operational viability, introduce environmental improvements, and enhance physical accessibility.
Barbara Stow, Chair of Wyeside trustees said,
"It is so encouraging that the Theatres Trust has recognised Wyeside in this way. We are proud to be the first theatre in Wales to receive a grant from the Trust. Wyeside is housed in a beautiful building but it is a challenge to keep it in good repair, especially where the building fronts directly onto the river. The grant will go towards the second phase of our repairs to the stonework and guttering and people coming over the Wye bridge in Builth will be able to see a real difference when the works are completed in the spring."
